One of the (nicest) ladies I work with is Polish. So, she often says things differently (as some ESL people do) and it makes for funny stories.
Today she said that she had been renovating or something and was putting something together with screws. As she was doing this, a man came to the door. I guess they were talking or whatever and she said “I’m tired…I’ve been screwing all day.” I guess the guy was laughing or something and she didn’t understand why it was so funny until she talked to someone at work and found out that, in the English language, ‘screwing’ also represented something completely different.
